Salman Khan-starrer 'Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace' has reportedly got a government clearance after major changes were made to its portrayal of India-China relations, paving the way for its theatrical release.
The film, originally titled Battle of Galwan, is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. Its release had been delayed amid concerns over its depiction of China as relations between New Delhi and Beijing improved.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, officials of India’s Information and Broadcasting Ministry were satisfied with the revised version submitted by the filmmakers and issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) last week. The new version has reportedly been substantially altered and presents India-China relations in a positive light.
The film has been directed by Apoorva Lakhia and also stars Chitrangda Singh alongside Salman Khan. It still needs certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) before its theatrical release.
The makers have not officially announced a release date. However, Bollywood Hungama reported that Salman Khan is considering November 13 for the film’s release, subject to CBFC clearance.
