Six more people died of dengue in the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,608 patients were hospitalised with the viral disease. Two of the deceased were from areas under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its regular dengue bulletin on Saturday.
According to the DGHS, the death toll from dengue has reached 249 this year. Of them, 148 died in September, 43 in August, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February.
The bulletin said 1,608 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country between 8:00 AM on Friday and 8:00 AM on Saturday. The number of hospitalised patients this year has reached 84,369.
Meanwhile, 1,621 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 78,482.
Dhaka division recorded the highest number of hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, with 525 patients, followed by Chattogram with 319, Khulna with 276, Barishal with 215, Rajshahi with 132, Mymensingh with 79 and Rangpur with 62.
