Dengue deaths reach 250 this year

One more person has died of dengue in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 250 this year.

According to a dengue report issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday, 1,163 people were hospitalised with dengue between 8:00 AM Thursday and 8:00 AM Friday.

Of the new patients, 295 were admitted in Dhaka division excluding city corporations, 151 in Barisal division, 333 in Chattogram division, 80 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 45 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 111 in Khulna division, 77 in Mymensingh division and 71 in Rangpur division.

With the latest figures, the number of dengue patients hospitalised across the country since January 1 has reached 82,761.

Of them, 76,862 have been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
