President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged chartered accountants to work with integrity and efficiency to ensure transparency and accountability in the country’s institutional sector.

He made the call when a six-member delegation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), led by its President Sabbir Ahmed, met him at Bangabhaban on Monday (October 5).

The president said chartered accountants and audit professionals play a crucial role in maintaining financial discipline in government, private and state-owned institutions and in maintaining investors’ confidence.

During the meeting, the ICAB delegation briefed the president on its activities and invited him to attend an international conference to be organised by the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in November as the chief guest.

The president accepted the invitation and assured them that he would attend the event.

The president’s secretaries and senior officials were present at the meeting.
