Clg student missing for 12 days after alleged abduction

A 17-year-old college student has been missing for 12 days after allegedly being abducted in Baliadangi, Thakurgaon, with her family fearing she may have been trafficked to India.

According to the family and the case statement, the student was allegedly called outside her home by neighbour Ramik Chandra Singh, 23, over the phone late on September 24. She was then allegedly forced into a microbus and taken away.

Her father filed an abduction case with Baliadangi Police Station on September 26 against Ramik, his father Sumanta Chandra Singh, a village police member, and several others.

Police have yet to rescue the student or arrest any of the accused.

The family says several of the accused regularly travel to India, raising fears that she may have been taken across the border.

The girl’s father said Ramik’s father was initially in the area and that his arrest could have provided important information about his daughter’s whereabouts.

“Initially, the police did not take the matter seriously. Now, no one can be found. I want my daughter back at any cost,” he said.

Police said the family reported the matter after a delay. Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bulbul Islam said they were using mobile phone location data to trace the suspects and attempting to make arrests.

The girl’s relatives said her mother has almost stopped eating since her daughter went missing.

Police have also asked anyone who recognises the missing student from photographs published in the media to provide information to law enforcement.
