Sadman Rahman (Nabil), a student at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Sylhet-Sunamganj Highway.
The accident occurred around 12:15 AM on Saturday (October 10) in the Tapoban Residential Area, adjacent to the university.
Nabil, a resident of the Madhya Bhabanipur area in Rajbari, was a student in the Department of Physics (2025-26 academic session). He lived in a shared student accommodation (mess) in the Tilargaon area near the university.
According to eyewitnesses and university administration sources, Nabil was heading towards the city's Madina Market on a motorcycle after socializing with friends at the university's main gate on Saturday night.
While en route, he lost control of the motorcycle after colliding with the road divider on the Sylhet-Sunamganj Highway, sustaining a severe head injury.
Locals and fellow students rescued Nabil and initially took him to a private hospital near the university. He was later taken to Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead.
The entire university was grief-stricken following the death of Nabil in the motorcycle accident. Examinations for two departments were subsequently postponed.
