The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is hopeful of diplomatic progress between Iran and the United States but remains prepared for the worst-case scenario amid fears of renewed conflict in the Middle East, a senior official said on Sunday (November 1).
Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, made the remarks at a conference in Manama.
“We hope for a diplomatic breakthrough. Another conflict in the Middle East would serve nobody’s interests. However, I believe we are prepared to deal with the worst-case scenario, as we have done in the past,” he said.
The comments came amid renewed concerns over the possibility of another war in the region.
