Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan turned 61 on Monday, 2 November, with a fresh musical release from his upcoming film King, birthday celebrations in Mumbai and new updates from the film's cast drawing attention from fans.
The actor marked the occasion with the release of “Tu Mil Jaaye”, the first song from King. Unveiled at midnight, the track features Shah Rukh alongside Deepika Padukone, bringing the popular on-screen pair together once again.
Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the song features vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran contributing an English rap section. The video combines romantic moments between Shah Rukh and Deepika with action sequences, offering a glimpse of the film's mix of romance and thriller elements.
The birthday celebrations also brought a special update from Kareena Kapoor Khan. She confirmed her appearance in King by sharing a teaser glimpse of a dance sequence with Shah Rukh. In her birthday message, Kareena called him the “forever Ruler of the kingdom” and expressed excitement about dancing with him.
Outside his Mumbai residence Mannat, fans gathered to celebrate the superstar's birthday. The building was decorated with large-scale visuals from King, while a handwritten message from Shah Rukh thanked admirers for their wishes and affection.
“Thank you all for your wishes and love. Sending mine right back to you all,” the message read.
The Bandra-Worli Sea Link was also illuminated with birthday greetings and images of the actor. Shah Rukh later shared a photograph of the display, saying he had gone out for a drive to see it.
Born on 2 November 1965 in New Delhi, Shah Rukh began his acting career on television before making his film debut with Deewana in 1992. India and My Name Is Khan.
After a period away from the big screen, he returned in 2023 with three releases: Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. The first two became major commercial successes, reaffirming his position as one of Indian cinema's most prominent stars.
His next major project, King, is directed by Siddharth Anand, with whom he previously worked on Pathaan. The film features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 24 December 2026. It will also mark Suhana Khan's theatrical debut alongside her father.
