Rajinikanth net worth crosses 8 billion, making history

Tamil cinema and Rajinikanth are practically synonymous. In many ways, it is through him that Tamil cinema gained recognition across the subcontinent. From his youth to the age of 75, he has continued to dominate both the silver screen and the box office.

Rajinikanth’s latest film, ‘Jailer 2’, has recently been released, and with it, the actor has truly made history. It has become the first film in the history of the Tamil film industry to reach a collection of Rs. 800 crore, in a matter of  18 days.

According to a report by ‘India Today’, ‘Jailer 2’ was released globally on October 15. Within 18 days, its earnings reached Rs. 807.25 crore. It has set records not only globally but also within India; ‘Jailer 2’ is now the highest, grossing Tamil film of all time at the Indian box office. Its domestic theatrical collection exceeds Rs. 533.75 crore, with the remainder coming from international markets. Of this total, the Tamil version alone accounted for Rs. 316 crore.

Prior to ‘Jailer 2’, the highest, grossing Tamil film in India was also a Rajinikanth starrer, ’2.0’, which earned Rs. 519 crore.

This film is a sequel to the 2023 superhit ‘Jailer’, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Alongside Rajinikanth, the cast includes S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Ramya Krishnan, and Vidya Balan. The film also stars notable guest appearances by stars such as Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff, and Vijay Sethupathi.
