Trader hacked dead in Narsingdi

A local trader was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Narsingdi's Polash upazila on Monday night.

The incident occurred around 11PM at Charsindur Bazar of the upazila.

Deceased Moni Chakrabarti, 40, was leading a grocery shop in the Charsindur Bazar.

Police and locals said that miscreants, equipped with lethal weapons, attacked him when Moni Chakraborty was returning home closing shop. 

Later, locals rescued critically injured Moni and took him to Palash Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Palash Police Station OC Shahed Al Mamun said, "The police inspected the scene. The body has been sent to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy. And the police operation is underway to arrest the criminals."
