Preliminary results from eight polling centres of Panchagarh-1 constituency show Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) leader Sargis Alam in the lead.
According to initial count, NCP's northern regional chief organiser and 11-party alliance nominated candidate Sarjis Alam has secured 8,847 votes from the eight centres counted so far. His nearest rival, BNP-nominated candidate Naushad Zamir, received 7,831 votes.
According to sources, a total of 15 candidates are contesting the election in Panchagarh’s two parliamentary constituencies this time. There are 286 polling centres across the district.
Panchagarh-1 constituency has a total of 458,807 registered voters with 155 polling centres, while Panchagarh-2 has 414,356 voters and 131 polling centres. Counting of votes is continuing as results from other centres are awaited.
