Thakurgaon-1: Mirza Fakhrul leads in 82 centres

Preliminary results from 82 polling centres in Thakurgaon-1 show BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the lead. Contesting under the Dhanshish (paddy sheaf) symbol, he has secured 103,133 votes.

His nearest rival, Delwar Hossain of Jamaat-e-Islami, nominated by the 11-party alliance and contesting under the Daripalla (balance scale) symbol, has received 59,444 votes so far, according to the district election office.

Thakurgaon-1 constituency has a total of 507,200 registered voters, including 251,678 male voters, 255,518 female voters and 4 voters registered as third gender. Voting was held across 185 polling centres throughout the day.

According to sources, the election was conducted in a festive and peaceful atmosphere, with voters actively exercising their franchise.
