Motorcyclist killed on Cox's Bazar marine drive

A motorcyclist was killed and another person injured in a head-on collision between a jeep and a motorcycle on Marine Drive in Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Md Oliullah, 38, son of Ali Mia of Nayapara village under Sabran union in Teknaf upazila. He was a land trader by profession and had previously worked as a madrasa teacher for several years at the beginning of his career.

According to locals, the incident occurred around 1:45 PM in the Dariyanagar area of Ramu upazila along the Cox's Bazar Marine Drive, when a jeep heading towards Teknaf collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, leaving one rider dead on the spot and another injured.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the victims, taking them to Cox's Bazar General Hospital.

Himchhari Police Outpost in charge sub-inspector (SI) Prabhakar Barua confirmed the incident and said that both vehicles involved in the crash have been seized.
