Woman held with firearms, ammo in Khulna

Police arrested a woman along with firearms and ammunition from Nij Khamar area in Khulna city on Saturday morning.


The arrested was identified as Suraiya Parvin Sumi, a resident of Satkhira Sadar upazila.


Acting on a tip-off, police, along with officials from the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), conducted a joint drive in the Nij Khamar area searched a passenger bus travelling from Satkhira to Dhaka.


Police became suspicious of the movement of Suraiya Parvin Sumi and searched her body and bag. During the search, they recovered five pistols, two magazines and 96 rounds of ammunition from her possession.


She was later taken to Labanchara Police Station.


Labanchara Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Tuhinuzzaman confirmed the incident and said that a case has been filed against the arrested under the Arms Act.
