Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Sarwar has said that the movement of trucks and covered vans will be suspended before and after Eid in an effort to reduce traffic congestion and ensure smoother travel for passengers.

''Help desks have been set up for passengers to ensure a hassle-free Eid journey.''

He also warned that unfit or rundown buses will not be allowed to operate on the roads, the DMP Commissioner said during a meeting with bus owners and workers' leaders at the Gabtoli Bus Terminal on Saturday.

He added, ''To provide better service to passengers, additional police will be deployed at bus terminals.''

Md Sarwar further said that members of the Counter Terrorism unit, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and plainclothes police officers will also be deployed to ensure the safety and security of travelers during the Eid rush.
