LOHAGARA, CHATTOGRAM, Mar 15: With Ramadan nearing its end, the festive spirit is visible in Lohagara as locals gear up for Eid shopping. From early morning to late at night, markets and shops across the upazila are bustling with buyers and sellers.

Families are shopping together, exploring the latest collections. Markets and shopping centers are filled with people of all ages, with everyone picking items within their budget. To avoid crowds, many complete their shopping during the day. Women are drawn to imported salwar kameez, while men often choose traditional panjabis or locally made cotton garments. Comfort is also a priority due to the summer heat.

Merchants report higher sales compared to previous years and expect crowds to continue through Chand Raat. Shops across Amirabad Bottoli, Padua Bazaar, Chunti Bazaar, and surrounding commercial areas are crowded with buyers purchasing clothes, shoes, cosmetics, semai, sugar, and daily necessities. Women's and children's clothing stores are particularly busy.

Jami Uddin, a merchant at Amirabad Bottoli Bazaar, said sales rise daily as Eid approaches. Evening hours are especially busy, and many shops have stocked new designs to meet customer demand.

Shoppers said they are buying clothes and essentials for all family members, though some expressed dissatisfaction at the comparatively higher prices of certain items.

To maintain order and prevent adulteration or overpricing, the upazila administration has stepped up monitoring.
Abdul Jalil, Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Police, said the police are on alert to ensure law and order during the Eid shopping period.

Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Saiful Islam added that arrangements have been made for smooth market operations, and legal action will be taken if anyone is found selling goods at inflated prices or adulterated products.
