
GHORAGHAT, DINAJPUR, Mar 15: As part of a rehabilitation and alternative employment initiative for beggars, the Ministry of Social Welfare distributed livestock to underprivileged and destitute individuals in Ghoraghat, Dinajpur.
The event took place on Friday evening on the premises of Singra Union Parishad-3, organised jointly by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Social Services Office. The ceremony was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rubana Tanzin, while Professor Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, MP, Minister for Social Welfare and Minister for Women and Children Affairs, attended it as the chief guest.
Under this programme, 20 beneficiaries received one goat each, with a total expenditure of Tk 1.68 lakh.
Other notable attendees included Abdul Matin, Deputy Director of Dinajpur District Social Services Office; ASP Niyamat Ullah of Ghoraghat Hakimpur Circle; Assistant Commissioner (Land) Abdullah Al Mamun Kawser Sheikh; Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam of Ghoraghat Police Station, alongside other local dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, the minister said, government programmes like these play a vital role in improving the living standards of disadvantaged people. He pledged to continue such initiatives in the future.
