A repulsive
fantasy of teens unveiled in Narayanganj's Fatullah upazila, as police
have arrested six teenagers for their alleged involvment in killing a
child only to have the experience of being imprisoned.
The
suspected six, all are aged between 14 and 18, have been arrested in
connection with the killing of 11-year-old child Hossain.
Superintendent
of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi disclosed the terrifying details during
a press briefing on Monday, adding that one of the detainees has
already provided a confessional statement before the court.
Describing
the incident, the police official told that Hossain, son of a flower
seller named Suman from Shiyachar area, went missing on April 18. Later,
he was found dead on April 23 and his body was recovered from an
abandoned house near Fatullah railway tracks.
According to police
investigations, the suspects, most of whom are drug addicts had
pre-planned to kill someone to fulfill their curiosity about the jail
life. On the morning of April 18, they spotted Hossain passing by the
abandoned house while they lured him inside under the pretext of smoking
hemp.
Once inside, the group attacked him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot, stated the investigation report.
"There
was no personal enmity between the victims and the suspects and Hossain
was chosen simply because he was an easy target," SP Munshi stated.
The
investigation gained momentum after police arrested an associate, who
was appointed to look after the dumped body of Hossain. His information
led to the arrest of two in Barisal and the remainder in various parts
of Fatullah. However, one suspect remains at large, he said.
Police
have also recovered a knife used in the murder from a nearby garbage
dump based on information provided by the detainees, concluded the
police official.
