Acting DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar said that the capital does not currently have any significant top-level criminals.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new police camp in Karwan Bazar on Saturday morning, he said that criminal lists are regularly updated and that there are no major “top terrorists” active in the city at present.

He added that those currently involved in criminal activities are either associates of former top criminals or individuals using their names to carry out illegal operations in an attempt to destabilize the situation.

However, he stressed that police are actively working to control such activities and there is no reason for public concern.

He further said that efforts to curb extortion will continue and law enforcement operations will remain discreet but effective.

“If criminals try to re-emerge, they will be suppressed,” he said, adding that police are working continuously to maintain law and order.

The Acting Commissioner also emphasized that DMP is prioritizing public safety and urged citizens to remain aware and cooperative alongside the police in preventing crime.

Officials present at the event said the new police camp at Karwan Bazar area will play an important role in strengthening security and improving law and order in one of the busiest commercial hubs of the capital.
