Cop held with 50,000 Yaba pills in Ctg

A policeman has been arrested for allegedly possessing 50,000 Yaba pills from near the Shah Amanat Bridge in Bakalia of Chattogram city.

Identified as Ashiqul Islam, the 30-year-old arrestee is posted at Khulna District Police.

Bakalia Police caught him early Tuesday morning near the bridge in the Bashiruzzaman Chattar while searching a bus as he was returning from Cox's Bazar, said station chief Md Solaiman.

The yaba tablets were found in Ashiqul's bag.

A case has been filed against Ashiqul and he has been sent to court, said Solaiman.

On Dec 8, 2025, Bakalia Police detained a policeman named Md Imtiaz with 120,000 yaba pills from the same area. But they released him "secretly". "bdnews24
