Open lottery held for Boro paddy collection in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, May 11: An open lottery was held among farmers for domestic Boro paddy collection in Tarakanda Upazila of Mymensingh on Monday.

The open lottery took place on Monday in the upazila hall room under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Aminul Islam. The lottery was conducted in the presence of farmers.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Office sources, 1,913 farmers applied to supply paddy to government godowns. Among them, 700 farmers - 70 from each of the 10 unions - were selected through the lottery.

Those present on the occasion included Upazila Agriculture Officer Anurupa Suprava Kanchisan, Food Officer MM Salahuddin, President of Upazila Press Club Towkir Ahmed Shahin, General Secretary Azaharul Islam Liton, Journalist Anwar Hossain, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Abdus Salam Talukdar Subhan, and leaders of Upazila BNP's affiliated organisations.
