Any activities by ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina could spoil the positive trajectory of Bangladesh-India relations if they are aimed at shaping any subsidiary activity in Bangladesh told Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir to the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner.

The issue was discussed during a courtesy meeting between Humayun Kabir and Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka on Monday afternoon. The two sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, expressing optimism about further strengthening ties based on mutual respect, trust and shared interests.

The meeting also addressed social media reports claiming that Sheikh Hasina, who has been sentenced to death in absentia and remains a fugitive according to the Bangladeshi government, may deliver a public address on August 5.

Humayun Kabir told the Indian envoy that Bangladesh expects India's cooperation in ensuring that neither Hasina nor members of any organization banned by Bangladesh use Indian territory to make political statements or carry out activities intended to make hazardous situation.

He said such actions could damage the positive momentum in bilateral relations.

In response, High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi said India would mulls about the matter and remain cautious to the issue.

Both sides also expedite the importance of maintaining regular conversation and constructive engagement, expressing confidence that mutual trust and continued discussions would help achieve long-term and sustainable solutions to bilateral issues.
