
Around 432 young men and women secured employment at day-long job fairs held in Cox’s Bazar, Joypurhat and Naogaon on Monday.
The job fairs were organised with the aim of enhancing skills among the youth, creating employment opportunities and supporting entrepreneurship development in the country’s growing young population.
COX’S BAZAR: A total of 132 young men and women secured employment at a day-long job fair held in Cox’s Bazar on Monday.
Among those selected, 73 were men and 59 were women, organisers said.
The job fair was organised at the Public Library Auditorium in the town under the “Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE)” project, implemented by the Polli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) in collaboration with Brastab Initiative for People’s Self Development.
A total of 342 job seekers participated in the fair, themed “Enhancing human capacity through small initiatives.” Career counselling services were also provided to participants by representatives of BDJobs.com.
The programme was chaired by Brastab Initiative Executive Director Ruhi Das. Cox’s Bazar Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Azhar Uddin inaugurated the event as the chief guest.
Special guests included PKSF Manager and RAISE Project Deputy Coordinator Golam Zilani and Cox’s Bazar Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Jahanara Islam.
Representatives from 22 organisations, including Walton, BDJobs.com, Hotel Grand Pacific, PRAN-RFL, Hamko, and several handicraft sector companies, participated in the fair.
Speakers said job fairs under initiatives like RAISE play an important role in improving youth skills and creating employment opportunities.
The chief guest said such programmes help develop skilled human resources and strengthen the link between employers and job seekers, particularly in technology-driven sectors.
He added that the district administration would continue to support such employment-focused initiatives in the future.
Special guests said there is no alternative to skill development in today’s competitive labour market, and job fairs help connect employers directly with suitable candidates.
The chairperson of the programme said the organisation is working continuously to ensure employment for trained youth and reduce unemployment through such initiatives.
Organisers said around 73,000 unemployed youths have received trade-based technical and life skills training under the RAISE project using a Guru-Shishya (mentor-apprentice) model.
They also said PKSF’s 90 partner organisations will continue organising similar job fairs across the country to expand employment opportunities for young people.
JOYPURHAT: About 200 young men and women secured jobs at the day-long job fair on Monday.
The job fair was arranged on the head office premises of JAKAS Foundation under the RAISE project, implemented by PKSF.
Around 30 reputed local and national organisations took part in the fair, while more than 800 job seekers submitted their CVs and attended interviews.
According to organisers, 200 candidates were selected and received immediate job offers during the event.
JAKAS Foundation Executive Director Md Nurul Amin chaired the programme.
PKSF General Manager and RAISE Project Coordinator Dilip Kumar Chakraborty attended it as the chief guest.
Special guests included Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development in Joypurhat Mokhchudul Kabir, Deputy Director (Additional Charge) of the District Social Services Office Shahadat Hossain, Acting Principal of the Technical Training Centre Engineer Md Rezaul Karim, and Executive Director of local NGO Eso Matinur Rahman Matin.
Other speakers included JAKAS Foundation Deputy Executive Director Md Abul Bashar, Director Rafiq Ul Islam Badsha, Director (Human Resources) Murtuja Akhter Banu, Deputy Director (Livestock) Obaidul Islam, and Deputy Director (Finance) Khorshed Alam.
Speakers said job fairs play an important role in the current competitive labour market by creating a direct link between employers and job seekers.
They said such initiatives help reduce unemployment by bridging the gap between institutions and young job seekers.
Organisers described the immediate employment of 200 participants as a major success and expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue in the future.
NAOGAON: The job fair was inaugurated on the Sadar Upazila Parishad premises in the morning by DC Mohammad Saiful Islam, who formally opened the event by releasing festoons as the chief guest.
The job fair was organised jointly by Moushumi and Dabi Moulok Unnayan Sangstha under the RAISE project, implemented with financial and technical support from the PKSF.
The inaugural session was chaired by Moushumi Executive Director Erfan Ali.
Among others present were Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shaheen Mahmud, Department of Youth Development Deputy Director Md Matiar Rahman, Department of Women Affairs Deputy Director Amina Khatun, Naogaon Technical Training Centre Acting Principal Samsujjaman, PKSF RAISE Project Management Unit Programme Manager Dr Md Faizul Tarik Chowdhury, Moushumi Adviser Md Hossain Shahid Iqbal, and Dabi Moulok Unnayan Sangstha Executive Director Ashrafun Nahar.
Speakers said that in order to transform the country’s growing youth population into skilled human resources, greater emphasis must be placed on skills-based training, job creation and entrepreneurship development.
They said the PKSF-supported RAISE project is playing an important role in improving the skills of unemployed and underprivileged youth, engaging them in income-generating activities and ensuring sustainable livelihoods.
