Rizvi calls for increased agro budget

Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday, June 29, 2026, called for an increased budget allocation for agriculture sector to ensure food security, create employment, and help control inflation.

The Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political and Industrial Affairs and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General made the remarks while speaking at a seminar titled “Budget 2026-27: Roadmap to Agricultural Development and Implementation Challenges,” organized by Agriculture Association of Bangladesh (AAB) at Agriculturists’ Institute in Farmgate, Dhaka.


Rizvi said that although the current budget has slightly increased allocations for agriculture, the increase is insufficient in the context of rising inflation. 
He also emphasized the need for greater investment in agriculture, enhanced research, modern storage technologies, and the development of skilled human resources.

The senior BNP leader stressed the importance of expanding export markets for agricultural products, increasing domestic production of onions, ginger, and garlic, and promoting agro-based industries.

Rizvi observed that strengthening the agriculture sector would not only ensure food security but also generate more employment opportunities and contribute positively to controlling inflation.
