NCP leader killed in motorcycle crash in Ctg
National Citizen Party (NCP) leader was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a stationary covered van on Shahid Waseem Flyover (Akhtaruzzaman Flyover) in Chattogram city on Tuesday night.
The deceased, Faiyaz Tazrian, was a member of the Chattogram city NCP committee and son of Hakim Uddin, joint convener of Hathazari Upazila BNP.
Police said the accident occurred around 10:00pm after a covered van broke down on the flyover. Faiyaz crashed into the rear of the vehicle and was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
NCP city Office Secretary Riduwan Hridoy said the road was slippery due to rain and the flyover was dark because of load-shedding, making it difficult for Faiyaz to see the stranded vehicle.
Police seized the covered van, while its driver fled the scene. The body was sent for an autopsy and an investigation is underway.
