
Snake infestation has increased in the affected areas of Chittagong due to continuous rains and landslides. At least 75 people have been injured due to snake bites in the past few days. However, no deaths have been reported so far.
District Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam gave this information on Sunday (July 12) afternoon. Necessary treatment facilities including antivenom have been made available in the upazila health complexes.
The district civil surgeon also said that special medical teams are working in the flood-affected areas.
These teams are distributing medical services, essential medicines, food and saline to the affected areas. In addition, instructions have been given to quickly take pregnant women and sick children to hospitals by boat.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to floods and landslides in five districts of Chittagong has risen to 51. Among the dead are three in Rangamati, six in Bandarban, 28 in Cox's Bazar, 13 in Chittagong and one in Moulvibazar.
In addition, 39 people were injured. Among them, one in Khagrachhari, two in Bandarban, 24 in Cox's Bazar and 12 in Chittagong.
