The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has announced that the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will continue as scheduled across all education boards, except the Chattogram Education Board.
According to the committee, while examinations under the Chattogram Education Board have been postponed until July 16 due to flooding, most examination centres under the country's other education boards remain suitable for holding the exams. The decision to continue examinations elsewhere was made based on reports submitted by the respective local administrations.
The information was informed through a notice signed by Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, on Monday night (July 13).
The notice also addressed concerns raised by students, parents and other stakeholders over the continuation of the examinations amid adverse weather conditions. It explained that since HSC and equivalent examinations are conducted simultaneously across all education boards using a common question paper, suspending examinations nationwide due to the situation in one board would not be practical.
However, the committee stated that if severe weather or any natural disaster poses a significant threat to the safety of candidates or disrupts the examination process in any area, the respective Deputy Commissioner (DC) will assess the situation and take immediate and appropriate action.
