Showbiz joins Argentina's WC final match celebrations

Argentina's victory over England to book a place in the FIFA World Cup final sparked celebrations not only among football fans but also across Bangladesh's entertainment industry, with numerous celebrities taking to social media to express their excitement.

From the moment the final whistle blew late on Wednesday night, Facebook and Instagram were flooded with celebratory posts, reels and videos from actors, musicians and filmmakers rejoicing over Lionel Messi's side reaching another World Cup final.

Among the most talked-about reactions came from actress Porimoni. Before kick-off, she had jokingly promised, "If Argentina win the World Cup, I'll get married again after the final."

After England captain Harry Kane failed to stop Argentina's march to the final, the actress returned with another humorous post, writing, "Harry Kane, you couldn't stop my wedding after all!"

While actor Omar Sani and television personality Shahriar Nazim Joy were already exchanging playful remarks online over Messi and football rivalries, actor Chanchal Chowdhury also joined the celebrations with a football-themed meme.

Sharing an edited scene from a popular Bangladeshi film, he replaced the face of an unconscious character with that of England striker Harry Kane, while another character appeared to plead for him to score. Captioning the meme, Chanchal wrote, "Celebrate the victory later... First, console those who have been defeated."

Television actress Nadia Ahmed also posted a lengthy reaction, praising Argentina's comeback after a difficult first half.

Referring to Argentina's critics, she wrote that no amount of "bad luck or negative energy" could stop the team, adding that despite struggling early in the match, Argentina produced two brilliant goals within six minutes and 37 seconds to secure a place in the World Cup final. She concluded her post with, "We're in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final. Vamos Argentina!"

Singer Balam also shared his delight over the result, saying on Facebook that it had been a long time since he had felt such happiness.

Filmmaker Ananya Mamun could not resist teasing Brazil supporters after Argentina's victory.

In a light-hearted post, he joked, "Warning: Roads across Dhaka may be flooded by the tears of Brazil fans."

Actress Shahnaz Khushi viewed Argentina's triumph as a symbol of overcoming adversity.

She wrote, "Ignoring every curse and criticism, my beloved Argentina are in the final."

Actor Rawnak Hasan also announced a celebration for friends and colleagues following Argentina's win.

Posting a Facebook reel, he wrote, "Khichuri feast to celebrate Argentina's victory!"

Actor Irfan Sajjad took a swipe at Brazil supporters, writing, "Pack your bags again. This time you're heading to Spain�"we're staying with Argentina!"

Actress Keya Payel expressed her joy in a brief but emotional post, writing, "Argentina, you're simply beautiful."

Actress Farzana Chumki also congratulated the finalists, praising Argentina's impressive performance during the closing stages of the match.

During the tense encounter, filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowdhury also shared his emotions, joking that he wished he could meet England's goalkeeper on Dhaka's Niketan Road No. 2.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Zahid Pritom offered a more analytical assessment of the match, saying Argentina had won as the better side without controversy.

He praised the team's remarkable comeback and said that if they continued to perform at the same level, they would have every chance of lifting the World Cup trophy.
