
Popular social media platforms, Facebook and Messenger have been restored after a sudden two-hour long outage in several countries, including Bangladesh.
The services became fully operational again after 3:40PM on Sunday.
Earlier, many users faced disruption while using the web version of the said social media platforms. Some experienced low speeds, while other witnessed complete blackout when trying to access the website. Viewing newsfeed, making calls or even sending messages were hampered too.
Social media has become a crucial part of daily life. As a result, this temporary glitch on major platforms like Facebook and Messenger quickly caused widespread anxiety among users.
According to technical tracking sources, the Facebook issue began around 45 minutes before the major reports. Meanwhile, Messenger faced disruption for 26 minutes and Instagram for 32 minutes, preventing users from logging in via computers. However, mobile versions remained accessible for some during that period.
Reports indicated that the outage was global. Users from Romania, Malaysia, Australia, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, and South Korea reported they could not access Facebook.
Additionally, users from Hungary, Estonia, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Canada, Denmark, and New Zealand also lodged complaints regarding the identical problem.
