Police recovered the blood-stained body of an RFL sales representative from a rented house in Paikgachha municipality on Tuesday, while his roommate and colleague has been missing since the incident.
The deceased was identified as Biswajit Deuri, 35, of Betra village in Jhalakathi Sadar upazila. He worked with RFL's Vigo Group. His missing colleague, Antar Sarkar, a technician, is from Kalkini upazila in Madaripur.
According to police, another colleague, Nayan Roy, went to the rented house after being unable to contact the two by phone. Finding the room locked from outside and a blood-stained knife sheath lying near the entrance, he alerted police.
A police team led by Paikgachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zulfikar Ali and Assistant Superintendent of Police (D-Circle) Amir Hamza visited the scene. Later, a CID forensic team collected evidence and sent the body for further examination.
The landlord, Ramprasad Mondal, said Biswajit and Antar had rented the ground-floor room about a month ago.
Locals suspect the killing took place late Monday night. They claimed Antar left the house on a motorcycle after locking the room and has not been seen since.
OC Zulfikar Ali said Biswajit's family had been informed and an investigation was underway to determine the motive behind the killing and trace the missing colleague.
