'Father kills son' over money dispute in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, July 31: A man named Lutfar Rahman has been accused of strangling his son Naim Islam Yamin, 20, to death over a money dispute in the Sagarpara area of Joypurhat Municipality. 

Although the accused has been absconding since the incident, the police have detained the deceased's stepmother Banu Khatun for questioning.

Police and local sources said that the deceased Naim recently bought a smartphone in instalments and he had an argument with his father over the payment of the instalment on July 29. Lutfar strangled his son to death sometime on Thursday night, left the body inside the locked house and fled. Officer-in-Charge of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Noor Alam Siddiqui confirmed the incident.
