Child dies under the wheels of a Pakhivan in Khulna

A child has died after being hit by a Pakhivan in Khulna.

The accident took place in Fatepur village of Harinkundu Union in Jhenaidah on Sunday, August 2.

Deceased was identified as Rafia Khatun, daughter of Rahaj Uddin, a local resident of the village. Rafia was reported only 4-years-old.

According to locals, Rafia and her father were on their way to the market. As they were about to boad a van to get there, another motorized pakhivan came in and ran over the girl’s chest.

Locals rescued critically injured Rafia and rushed her to the Upazila Heath Complex for treatment.

As her condition continued to worsen, on-duty doctors referred her to Kushtia. Unfortunately, she died on the way there.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Harinakundu Police Station, Asit Kumar Roy, confirmed the incident and said, the 4-year-old victim died after she was hit by the pakhivan.

Legal action would be taken if the victim’s parents or relatives file a case in this regard.
