Top leaders of the 11-party opposition alliance are scheduled to meet on Monday evening to discuss new programmes aimed at mounting pressure on the government to implement the referendum verdict and July Charter.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Leader of the Opposition’s residence on Minto Road, more than a month after the alliance’s last meeting.

Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Shafiqur Rahman, NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Amir Mamunul Haque and other top alliance leaders are expected to attend.

Alliance coordinator and Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad told Star News that the leaders will exchange views on new programmes and assess the extent to which the opposition’s divisional rallies have put pressure on the government.

He said the alliance partners are also planning long marches in every division to press the government to implement the referendum verdict and July Charter. The plan may receive final approval at Monday’s meeting.

The 11-party alliance has been carrying out a movement demanding implementation of the referendum verdict and July Charter.
