Pickup hits van in Khulna, driver dies on spot

A van driver was killed after a pickup van rammed his vehicle in the Teligati area of Khulna city on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Bishe Mallo, 67, hailing from Siddhipasha Sonatala Ghat area under Abhaynagar upazila.

The accident took place around 8:00AM on the Teligati Bypass Road near Kathmandu Restaurant.

Police arrested the pickup driver, Md Anisul Huq, 27, and deliveryman Hridoy, 29, in connection with the incident. The vehicle was also seized from the spot.

Witnesses and police said Bishe was driving his van toward Afil Gate carrying fish from the Aranghata bypass fish market. Simultaneously, an RFL Company pickup van (Dhaka Metro-O-113765) heading toward Morelganj in Bagerhat collided head-on with the van.

The impact killed the van driver on the spot.

Aranghata Police Station Duty Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Sanjib Biswas confirmed the incident.

Police prepared the inquest report and sent the body to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Process is underway to file a case over the incident.
