Heavy midnight rain raises fears of waterlogging in Dhaka

Heavy rain lashed parts of Dhaka overnight, raising fears of waterlogging and traffic disruptions during the morning rush.

Scattered showers began across the capital after Tuesday evening, with rainfall intensifying in several areas around midnight. Water has reportedly accumulated on roads in some low-lying areas.

If the water does not recede overnight or rain continues into the morning, commuters, office-goers and schoolchildren may face increased difficulties.

Even short spells of heavy rain frequently cause waterlogging on several Dhaka roads, disrupting traffic and daily life.
