
An army member was killed and three others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle in Naogaon’s Mahadebpur upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Al Zubayer, 24, a resident of Uttar Patari village in Sapahar upazila.
The accident occurred around 8pm in the Akhera area. Zubayer was travelling home from Naogaon by auto-rickshaw when it collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
He was critically injured and was initially taken to Mahadebpur Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Bogura Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where he died later that night.
The three injured were motorcycle rider Riyad, 18, auto-rickshaw passenger Nur Islam, 30, and Azizar Rahman, 38. They were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Mahadebpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Omar Faruk said Zubayer joined the Bangladesh Army as a soldier in 2022. He was on leave and travelling home when the accident occurred.
