RAB arrests 'Katappa' in Khulna Fakhrul murder case

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) arrested the prime suspect and shooter, Ibrahim alias Katappa, 34, in connection with the sensational Fakhrul Islam murder case in Rupsha upazila of the district.

A joint operational team of RAB-6 Special Company and CPC-3, Jashore Camp, conducted a raid and arrested him from the Sitarampur area under Jashore Sadar Police Station around 3:00 AM on Sunday.

According to the case statement, Fakhrul Islam, 32, was at his business office at M/S Rupsha Bricks on the night of August 12. Unidentified miscreants fired indiscriminately at him before fleeing the scene.

Locals rescued the critically injured victim and rushed him to the Rupsha Upazila Health Complex, where attending doctors declared him dead.

The victim's brother, Farhad Hossain, subsequently filed a murder case with Rupsha Police Station.

RAB claimed that during primary interrogation, Ibrahim alias Katappa confessed to his involvement in the killing and admitted to shooting Fakhrul with a pistol on the day of the incident. He also disclosed information regarding others involved in the murder.

The arrested accused was handed over to Rupsha Police Station in Khulna for further legal proceedings, while RAB drives continue to arrest the remaining suspects.
