Girl’s body found floating in river in Dinajpur

An unidentified girl, aged around 10 to 11, was found dead in the Karatoya River in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur.

Police recovered the body from the Karatoya River near the Bharnapara Tangi Eidgah field around 11:30 PM on Monday (August 17).

Locals said, they spotted a body floating in the river at night and informed police. Later, police from Ghoraghat Police Station went to the spot and recovered the body.

Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said, “the girl might have died around two days ago. He said the body likely drifted downstream with the river current and became stuck at a bend in the river.

Although the girl is estimated to be 10 to 11 years old, her identity could not yet be identified.
