Man dies after setting himself on fire following marital dispute

A 27-year-old man died in august 20, while receiving treatment after allegedly committing self-immolation due to a family dispute in Shibpur, Narsingdi.

Al Sadi, son of Jakir Mia, passed away on Wednesday at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, three days post incident.

According to police and locals, Sadi’s third wife allegedly eloped with his younger brother, causing him distress. He supposedly drenched himself in kerosene and set himself alight near his house around 5 PM on Monday.

Shibpur Model Police Station OC Mohammad Kohinur Mia said a case hasn’t been registered yet but police are probing the incident.
