Two minors drown in Atrai River 

NAOGAON, Aug 28: Two eight-year-old children drowned in the Atrai River near Shimultali Bridge in Dhamoirhat Upazila of the district on Thursday.

They were identified as Jisan, son of Tahidul Islam, and Tahmid Hossain, son of Delwar Hossain, both residents of Raspur Village in Khelna Union of the upazila.

According to local residents, the children went fishing in the river near their homes at about 1 pm without their families’ knowledge.

They drowned after entering the water and were swept away by the current. Neither child could swim.

Officer-in-Charge of Dhamoirhat Police Station Mintu Rahman confirmed the incident.
