BOGURA, Aug 28: Nearly 5,000 underprivileged people in Bogura received free eye care services on Friday under an initiative led by noted cardiologist Dr Zubaida Rahman, vice-president of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation and wife of the Prime Minister.
Al-Bashar International Foundation organised the camp with support from the Ziaur Rahman Foundation at Bogura Municipal High School and College.
Patients were provided with medicines and eyeglasses. Those diagnosed with cataracts were offered free surgery. Arrangements were made for 500 patients to undergo cataract surgery, including lenses, at the 250-bed Mohammad Ali Hospital in Bogura.
Former lawmaker and BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council member Mohammad Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu visited the camp, spoke with doctors and patients, and distributed medicines and eyeglasses.
