Five people found dead in three districts

Five people were found dead in separate incidents in Gaibandha, Cox’s Bazar and Jamalpur districts in two days.
GAIBANDHA: Police recovered the hanging body of a schoolteacher, Abu Salem, from a secluded banana orchard in Gobindaganj Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

Salem worked as an assistant teacher at Unique International School in the Katakhali-Baluahat area of the upazila.
According to local residents, they saw the man hanging from a banana tree in the Sapgachhi-Hatiadah area around noon and informed police. Later, the police recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge of Gobindaganj Police Station Mohammad Mozammel Haque confirmed the incident, saying it is not yet clear whether Salem had been killed or died by suicide. The body was sent to the District Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

COX’S BAZAR: The body of a tourist, Ibrahim Khan, 27, who went missing while swimming at Cox’s Bazar sea beach, was recovered on Friday morning from the Purba Para area of Sonadia Island in Maheshkhali.

Mahbub Alam, supervisor of the beach workers of the district administration and Beach Management Committee, confirmed the recovery.
Ibrahim went missing around 2 pm on Wednesday while swimming in the sea near the area between Sugandha and Laboni points of Cox’s Bazar beach. 

In the same incident, another tourist, Yasin Khan, 25, drowned and died. The two were cousins and residents of the Kuril Chowrasta area of Dhaka and had travelled to Cox’s Bazar with a group of 110 people on separate dates, August 22 and 24.
Mahbub Alam said Ibrahim’s body was found in the Purba Para area of Sonadia Island and was subsequently recovered.

JAMALPUR: Police recovered the bodies of a businessman and a teenage girl in separate incidents in Madarganj Upazila of the district.
The body of Ruposi Akter, 16, daughter of Sairuddin Sheikh of Ghonapara Village, was recovered from an irrigation pump house in the village on Friday morning, while that of Samiul Islam Fakir, 45, son of late Hormuz Ali of Jangalia Bazar, was recovered from his scrap shop at Jangalia Bazar on Thursday night.

Ruposi had been missing since Thursday night. A local farmer saw her body through a gap in the fence of an irrigation pump house on Friday morning.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (Madarganj Circle) Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan said the girl had allegedly left home with a man at night. “We suspect initially that her companion killed her and fled,” he said.

According to local people, Samiul used to sleep at his shop at night. As the shop remained closed throughout Thursday, his family members and local people became suspicious and saw Samiul’s body lying on the floor. On receiving the information, police broke open the lock and recovered the body. The bodies were recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsies.
