The primary education curriculum will include 12 life-based themes throughout the year to teach students about safety, life skills and practical knowledge, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said.

He made the remarks at the Safeguarding Leadership Summit in Dhaka on Wednesday (September 16).

He said students should learn not only from books but also how to stay safe, act responsibly and handle different situations in daily life.

Work is underway to reform the curriculum, with one theme planned for each month. Related examples and questions will be added to different subjects.

Themes may include fire safety, road safety, water safety, health and cleanliness, and disaster preparedness.

Hajjaj said the government is also working on common safety and education standards for all primary schools across the country.

He said the government wants to work with schools as a partner and learn from institutions with good practices.
