MPO teachers await transfer results amid delay

The results of the transfer applications submitted by MPO-listed teachers of private schools and colleges have yet to be published, despite the application deadline ending on Sept 13.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) said it has sought a status report from Teletalk on the overall progress of the transfer process. The DSHE had earlier issued an official notice regarding online applications for the transfer of MPO-listed teachers.

DSHE Director General Prof Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud said the directorate needs the status report from Teletalk before holding a meeting on the transfer process.

“Once we receive Teletalk’s status, we will hold a meeting. After the meeting, we will discuss the matter with the education minister and take the next steps,” he said.

The results will be published after the DSHE reviews the status of the applications and sends the file to the Education Ministry for final approval, according to officials.

Meanwhile, the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has replaced 195 teachers who had been recommended for posts based on incorrect vacancy information in the sixth and seventh recruitment circulars.

Teachers seeking transfers had applied for some of those posts. As the posts have now been filled, the applicants face uncertainty over their transfer applications.

An unnamed DSHE official said the directorate was aware of the 195 affected posts.

“The plan is to provide the affected applicants with transfer opportunities to vacant posts at other institutions in their own upazilas. If that is not possible, they may be offered posts in another upazila within the district or, if necessary, in a neighbouring district,” the official said.

A final decision on the matter will be taken at a meeting, the official added.
