Father arrested over 14-year-old son's murder

Police have arrested the father of a 14-year-old madrasa student in Subarnachar, Noakhali, over allegations that he strangled his son to death following resentment over his former wife’s second marriage.

The victim, Md Naim, was found dead beside a road near a paddy field in Charjubli Union on Tuesday (September 22). His mother, Fatema Akter Sumi, filed a murder case against her former husband at Char Jabbar Police Station on Friday (September 25).

Police said Naim had been living with his maternal grandfather since his parents’ divorce about three years ago and was studying at a local madrasa.

According to the family, Sumi remarried around 20–25 days ago, which allegedly angered her former husband. Police said the accused was detained on Thursday and allegedly admitted his involvement during interrogation. He was scheduled to be produced before a Noakhali court on Friday.
