PM holds bilateral, sideline meetings with leaders of several states

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a series of bilateral and sideline meetings with heads of state and government and representatives of various institutions on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, economic development, skilled manpower, education, technology and health, as well as enhancing coordination at multilateral forums, PM's Assistant Press Secretary KM Nazmul Haque said.
On September 23, Tarique Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic at the UN headquarters.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Croatia and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, economic cooperation, skilled manpower, education and technology.
They also underscored the need for greater cooperation between the two countries at the United Nations and other multilateral forums and for enhanced coordination on issues of common interest.
The Bangladesh prime minister also held a bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, during which they exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and ways to further advance bilateral relations.
The Thai prime minister addressed the UN General Debate on September 24 immediately before Tarique Rahman.
Tarique Rahman also met Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard on the sidelines of the UNGA, with particular emphasis on health and development cooperation between Bangladesh and Sweden.
At a high-level event organised by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Bangladesh and Sweden reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the role of midwifery in primary healthcare and expanding maternal and newborn health services.
The meetings were part of the prime minister's high-level engagements in New York aimed at advancing Bangladesh's cooperation with different countries and strengthening coordination on issues of mutual interest at international and multilateral forums
