Key accused arrested over attack on Muqtadir's studio

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Mijanur Rahman, a key accused in the attack and vandalism at content creator Salman Muqtadir's studio in ECB Circle, on Monday (September 28) afternoon.

DB personnel apprehended Mijanur during a drive in the Paschim Matikata area. He is named as accused number nine in the case filed with Cantonment Police Station by New Guinea Properties.

The arrest follows the detention of five individuals on Sunday (September 27), including the alleged mastermind Shahriar, who was arrested from the Baily Road area as the primary accused in the lawsuit.

The other arrested suspects include Shah Alam Onik, Vice President of Bhashantek Thana Jubo League, alongside Md Mamun, Aslam, and Munna.

The incident occurred late Saturday (September 26) night at New Guinea Properties in ECB Circle, where Salman Muqtadir's "Brownfish Studio" was located. Two individuals carrying knives were initially detained from the spot.

Cantonment Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Gias Uddin stated that the attack stemmed from a land dispute between New Guinea Properties Limited and local property owners.

Following the attack, Salman Muqtadir went live on Facebook, showing the destruction of his studio and suggesting that extortion attempts against the building owner might have motivated the assault.
