Rangamati Municipality organised workshop to form master plan

A workshop was held to present a draft master plan for Rangamati Municipality, formulated under the Improving Urban Governance & Infrastructure Program (IUGIP).

The workshop took place on Tuesday (September 29) morning at the Rangamati Municipality premises.

Speakers at the workshop emphasized the importance of a long-term master plan in building a well-planned, eco-friendly, and livable municipal town. They noted that the plan must be formulated by taking into account Rangamati's geographical characteristics, Kaptai Lake, hilly terrain, population growth, and the needs of its citizens.

They further highlighted the need for coordination among relevant government and non-government institutions, public representatives, and civil society for the successful implementation of the master plan.

Additionally, the speakers stressed the importance of prioritizing improvements in road connectivity, drainage systems, waste management, environmental conservation, housing, and civic services within the municipal area.

Various aspects of the draft master plan were presented during the workshop, and the opinions and suggestions of the stakeholders present were gathered.

Md. Mobarak Hossain presided over the event while it was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Imranul Haque Bhuiyan, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib, Civil Surgeon Nuyen Khisa, District Council Member and District BNP General Secretary Mamunur Rashid Mamun, and District Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Professor Abdul Alim, alongside officials from various government and non-government agencies and representatives of the municipal civil society.
