MP responds after son-in-law arrested over New Guinea Properties attack

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch has arrested Mizanur Rahman, son-in-law of Jamaat-nominated Kushtia-2 MP Abdul Gafur, over an alleged attack on New Guinea Properties in the capital.

Following reports about the arrest, Gafur issued a statement on Tuesday (September 29), denying any connection to the incident.

He said reports claiming Mizanur was arrested from his residence were “false and baseless,” adding that he has no private residence in Matikata and stays at the government-allocated NAM Bhaban.

Gafur said Mizanur’s involvement was a personal and business matter with no connection to him or Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

He urged media outlets to verify information from all sides and correct any inaccurate or misleading reports.
