Gill’s double century powers India to record chase

Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 223 powered India to a record eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the second ODI in Guwahati on Wednesday (September 30), as India chased down a target of 406 with 39 balls to spare.

West Indies posted 405-7 in their 50 overs, with John Campbell, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo scoring centuries.

In reply, India reached 406-2 in 43.3 overs, with Gill hitting 223 off 133 balls and Rohit Sharma scoring 101 off 75 balls.

The win gave India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. It was also India’s highest successful ODI run chase.
